Important

Home stay is different from hotel stay. Please read the following for the outline and conditions of home stay before you apply.

  1. A home stay should not be used merely as an inexpensive room and board.
  2. You will live as a member of the family, not as a guest.
  3. The home stay is not to be used as an opportunity for any kind of commercial or proselytizing activities.
  4. Only single-occupancy rooms are available.
  5. In rare cases, you may be required to move to another host family during your stay due to unavoidable circumstances.
  6. Depending on the conditions of your application, you may not be permitted to participate in a home stay program.
  7. Applicants will be arranged in private rooms.
  8. A single room with desk will be provided. Washroom facilities including bath/shower will be shared with the host family.
  9. Bed or futon will be provided for the applicants.
  10. Meals mentioned on the itinerary will be provided.
  11. Any outside meals including those with the host family will be at the applicant's own expense.
  12. Applicants will be responsible for paying any of their personal phone charges, cleaning bills, purchases of everyday items and goods.
  13. The host family will be responsible for preparing meals and paying electricity and water charges.
  14. The home stay areas will be located within 70 minutes of your school/company by public transportation.
  15. Host families may in some cases be of other nationalities.
  16. The requests of the applicants (in regards to conditions such as allergies, smoking, etc.) will be taken into consideration when placing them with their host families.
  17. English language ability will not be considered as a criteria in the selection of host families (the main language will be Japanese).
  18. We will do our best to meet applicant's requests regarding host family structure, but we are unable to meet requests in some cases.
  19. Please respect the rules of your host family's home.
  20. Because of the housing situation in Japan, many families live in the suburbs, and in some cases you may have to commute to your school or company for about 70 minutes by public transportation. Please be prepared for commuting costs and rush hour congestion.
