From Imperial Palace Plaza to Tokyo Tower On the way, enjoy seeing the National Diet Building through the vehicle window. This is the center of the Japanese Government. Don't let the impressive Western-style architecture fool you- -this building is constructed almost entirely out of pure Japanese materials.

Senso-ji Temple & Nakamise Shopping Street (Free Time for Sightseeing)

Senso-ji, Tokyo's oldest temple, offers plenty to see including the bright red Kaminarimon Gate, a statue of the god of thunder, and a five-story pagoda. The bustling street known as "Nakamise" stretches for about 250 m from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji Temple and is filled with a plethora of shops.
 
Kabukiza (Drive-by)
From Asakusa to Tokyo Station On the way, enjoy seeing the Kabukiza theater and Ginza through the vehicle window. A classic Japanese-style theater where traditional Kabuki performances are held.

Day 3: Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo

Kanmangafuchi Abyss

Kanmangafuchi Abyss is a small gorge formed by an eruption of Mt. Nantai. There is a row of approximately 70 stone statues of Jizo (a Bodhisattva who is the protector of children) along the river, and legend says they mysteriously change in number each time they are counted. A botanical garden lies on the opposite side of the Jizo statues, where visitors can enjoy the scenery of the season.

*In the winter season (around December to mid-March), as it may be difficult to ensure safety due to freezing of roads to Kanmangafuchi Abyss or other reasons, the tour will be guided to Futarasan Shrine, Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, or Nikko Botanical Gardens instead.

A registered UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sacred place with over 400 years of history is where Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, is enshrined. Enjoy seeing the traditional beauty of the main hall, as well as the sleeping cat and 3 monkey carvings.

The bus will head up the World Heritage Mt. Fuji 5th Station along the Subaru Line. The 5th Station is situated at 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level. At this height, you will be amazed at spectacular, breathtaking views from above the clouds.
 
*If the Fuji Subaru Line is closed, or if there is inclement weather and the company has determined that views may not be seen from Mt. A World Heritage site. This castle was built on the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. The impressive, elaborate carvings and decors in the Ninomaru Palace are a must-see.

Kinkaku-ji Temple

A World Heritage site. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.
 
Kyoto Imperial Palace

See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor's residence until about 150 years ago.
On days when the Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to visitors, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (disembark for sightseeing) as an alternative destination. This shrine is famous for the god of learning, and its main hall is a designated national treasure. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

A World Heritage site. Established in the 6th century, this shrine is one of Japan's finest, and is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a nobles' residence in the Heian period). The contrast of the green of Mt. Misen behind the lacquered shrine pavilion and the blue of the Seto Sea is beautiful and evocative of the underwater palace of Ryugujo.
Time for lunch is allotted on Miyajima. This region is known for oysters, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and conger eel rice bowl, which are available at many shops on Miyajima. Customers are free to enjoy their preferred meals.

The Atomic Bomb Dome is a symbol of the disastrous atomic bombing during WWII, the first atomic bombs used in human history, and has been preserved as it was to promote peace and elimination of atomic weapons around the world.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 2 Itinerary (Tokyo Half-day Tour)]

At Tokyo Tower, only the main observatory (150 m) will be entered. An additional admission fee is required to access the special observatory (250 m). For those interested, please pay the required charges on your own.

- Due to traffic restrictions or entry restrictions, etc. near the Imperial Palace, operation may be suspended or departure may not be possible from the designated departure location.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 3 Itinerary (Nikko Tour)]

- The Nikko tour is a walking tour where customers will be walking for approximately 5 km.

- Public transportation will be used to move around on this tour. Please note that seating is not guaranteed.

- In the winter season (around December to mid-March), as it may be difficult to ensure safety due to freezing of roads to Kanmangafuchi Abyss or other reasons, the tour will be guided to Futarasan Shrine, Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, or Nikko Botanical Gardens instead.

- While congestion is expected at the location, an audio service with which explanations from the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter can be heard will be available.

- As there are slopes and stairs in areas around Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Kanmangafuchi Abyss, wearing shoes with good traction and clothing easy to walk in as well as using a backpack are recommended. (A distance of about 5 km will be covered.)

- As there are land leeches from April to November, please be sure to keep your legs covered. We recommend wearing thick socks that cover the ankles and bringing bug spray.

- Shoes must be removed in some areas in Toshogu Shrine. Please participate wearing shoes that are easy to put on and take off, and are comfortable to walk in.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 5 Itinerary (Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour)]

- The departure and arrival times and time to be spent at destinations written on the itinerary are an estimate. The order of activities and arrival times may differ depending on road conditions and congestion at destinations.

- Due to weather conditions, Mt. Fuji may not be visible even from the base. However, the tour will not be canceled and refunds will not be given for this reason.

- Important Notes: On a typical year, the 5th Station may be visited from around late April to November, but during the winter months (around December to early April), the Fuji Subaru Line will be closed due to snowfall, road surface freezing, etc.

- If the Fuji Subaru Line is closed, or if there is inclement weather and the company has determined that views may not be seen from Mt. Fuji 4th Station and 5th Station, the tour will be guided to any of the following alternative facilities. Alternative Facilities: Fujisan Museum, Lake Kawaguchi Oishi Park, Fujisan World Heritage Center, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, Oshino Hakkai

- If the Lake Ashi Cruise and Komagatake Ropeway are not operating due to weather conditions, or if stops cannot be made due to road conditions and congestion at sightseeing destinations, the tour will be guided to any of the following alternative facilities. The tour will not be canceled and refunds will not be issued for this reason. Alternative Facilities: Appare Sightseeing Boat on Lake Kawaguchi, Swan Lake Cruise Ship on Lake Yamanaka, Hakone Pirate Ship, Mt. - After departure, the tour may stop by at hotels in Kanazawa City to pick up customers. Please note that customers may not disembark for a break here.

- If sightseeing facilities are closed, the tour will be taken to alternative destinations.

- Please note that customers on this plan may ride along with participants of other tours.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 10 Itinerary (1-Day Kyoto Tour)]

- As the Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to visitors on Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday) and on days when there is an Imperial Household Agency event, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. If the closed day falls on the 25th, the tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple.

- Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December, and from Dec. 26 to Jan. 3. (Closed on the following day if Tuesday is a holiday.) If closed, Ryoan-ji Temple will be visited instead.

- Participants will walk from the parking lot to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (about 15 min one-way).

- Refunds will not be issued in case the tour visits aforementioned alternative destinations.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 11 Itinerary (Nara Afternoon Tour)]

- Participants will walk from the parking lot to Todai-ji Temple (about 15 min one-way).

- Please inform us at the time of booking if any person in your group is using crutches or a wheelchair, or has a chronic illness that makes it difficult to walk for long distances.

- At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will also enter the Main Sanctuary special visit area. However, in case the special visit area cannot be entered due to events or operational circumstances, the Kasuga Taisha Museum or Manyo Botanical Garden will be visited instead.

- Refunds will not be issued in case the tour visits aforementioned alternative destinations.

[Important Notes/Supplements: Regarding Luggage Delivery]

- On Day 7, suitcases and other large pieces of luggage will be transported separately the following day by truck from hotels in Tokyo to hotels in Kyoto.

- For luggage transport service on the return trip, luggage will be sent separately from the Kyoto hotel accommodation on Day 11 and arrive in Tokyo the following day.

*Up to 2 articles of standard size luggage per customer will be transported.

*As delivery is the following day, please prepare an overnight package for the 2 nights in Kanazawa and 2 nights in Kyoto.

*Please check the the document containing details provided to customers after their arrival in Japan.
