After a relaxing morning at your hotel, set out on a full
day of sightseeing. Visiting:
• Takeda Shrine
The shrine was built on the former grounds of the
residence of local hero Takeda Shingen, one of the
strongest feudal warlords in Japanese history. The
Takeda clan was based in Kofu for many generations
and controlled today’s Yamanashi Prefecture. Takeda
Shrine is especially a popular spot to enjoy the cherry
blossoms in the spring, with about 50 cherry trees
planted on the site.
• Kai Zenko-ji Temple
This is Kofu’s most famous temple founded by the
legendary warrior Takeda Shingen. Admire the
nationally recognized cultural buildings and join in the
popular ritual of “Kaidan Meguri” which locals say
brings participants good luck.
• Shosenkyo Gorge / Shosenkyo Ropeway
Located north of Kofu, Shosenkyo is said to be the
most spectacular gorge in Japan, and its breathtaking
natural scenery has made it a unique and popular
hiking destination among those who wish to connect
with nature. The gorge is registered as a Special
Place of Scenic Beauty, and as a Japan Heritage site.
Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of sheer cliff
faces formed through thousand of years of erosion
amidst uniquely shaped rocks, some of which are said
to resemble animals.
• Sengataki Waterfall
The area is exceptionally beautiful especially when
the surrounding trees change colors during the fall
season (usually in early November)
