Day 1:
TOKYO - SADO ISLAND, NIIGATA
Visit Sado Island known in Japan as “ Thee Island of Gold and Silver” and learn about the history and culture. Sado is like a grand theme park of the earth, showcasing its natural splendor. Sado is therefore listed as one of Japan’s Geoparks.
Day 2:
SADO ISLAND, NIIGATA - NIIGATA CITY
Explore Niigata, the largest port on the Japan Sea coast, a hidden culinary gem and one of the three most prestigious areas in Japan for Geisha or Geigi, as they are called here.
Day 3:
NIIGATA - YUNOHAMA ONSEN, YAMAGATA
Enjoy Yamagata with an abundance of natural beauty, where is well known for agricultural products such as rice and cherries. The highlight of today is to hike the sacred mountain, Dewa Sanzan, which represent birth, death, and rebirth, respectively. The prefecture is also known for its ubiquitous hot springs, a source of pride for each town and village.
Day 4:
YAMAGATA - AKITA
Discover Akita, a refined rural capital in snow country, preserving the arts, crafts, and culture of an earlier age. Experience a world of legendary beauty with a drive to the Oga Peninsula. Learn and experience the folklore of the Namahage, known throughout the country as a folk event.
Day 5:
AKITA - AOMORI
Uncover Aomori’s hidden gems for natural landscapes, primeval forests, famous festivals, and World Heritage sites. Visit Hirosaki Park, which is famous for the top cherry blossom viewing sports in Japan and learn about the history and culture of the Nebuta Matsuri, a famous festival in Aomori.
Day 6:
AOMORI
Today, explore the breathtaking Michinoku Coastal Trail by walking. The Michinoku Coastal Trail, stretching more than 1,000 kilometers through Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, this is one of the Japan’s signature long-distance trails. Enjoy the adventure by hiking on the Hachinohe City Route. This is a trail course that takes you to the Tanezaki Coast, which is said to be one of the most scenic treasures in the Sanriku Fukko National Park. The coastal scenery, from rugged reefs to white sand and green pines, is impressive and changes as you walk.
Day 7:
AOMORI - TOKYO
Return to Tokyo by Shinkansen train.
