Embark on a sojourn ideal for first time travelers to Japan on a hand-crafted journey through the Golden Route. Visit the most symbolic locations of Japan, including the busy streets of Tokyo, the heart of Japanese culture in Kyoto, the precipice of Mt. Fuji, and the historically important Hiroshima.

Day 1: Narita Int'l Airport - Tokyo

Private transfer from Narita International Airport to select hotel in Tokyo.

Day 2: Tokyo

Start with a full day of sightseeing in Tokyo. Visit the Meiji Jingu Shrine, created to celebrate the life of Emperor Meiji, stop and shop at the bustling Harajuku, Omotesando, and Oriental Bazaar, enjoy a view of the Tokyo Cityscape at Roppongi Hills, and visit Tokyo’s most famous shopping and amusement district, Ginza.

Day 3: Tokyo

Enjoy another full day of sightseeing in Tokyo. Learn about the curious history of Tokyo in the Edo Tokyo museum, see the traditional downtown district of Tokyo in Asakusa, visit the quirky electronics town of Akihabara, and visit the Imperial Palace Plaza.

Day 4: Tokyo - Hakone

Go from urban Tokyo to rural Hakone, cruising on Lake Ashi, and then riding the Hakone ropeway to Owakudani. After sightseeing, experience a traditional Japanese inn at the luxurious Gora Kadan with a view of the beautiful Mt. Fuji with private hot spring bath.

Day 5: Hakone - Odawara - Kyoto

Take the Shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto and enjoy the scenic view. Visit Nijo Castle, a famous show of power built in 1603 by the Tokugawa clan, the ruling Japan from the Edo period, continue to Kinkakuji, known as “The Golden Pavilion” built originally in 1394, famous for its mirror ponds and gilded walls. 

Day 6: Kyoto

Begin a full day of sightseeing in Kyoto, starting with Sanju-san Gendo, famous for its 1001 statues, enjoy the view of Kyoto from the observation deck of Kiyomizudera, visit the Heian Jingu Shrine commemorating the 1,100th anniversary of Kyoto’s establishment as capital of Japan, and visit Ryoan-ji Temple’s stone gardens before a stroll in the preservation district, Gion to shop for antiques and crafts.

Day 7: Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto

Spend half a day in the ancient capital of Japan, Nara. Visit Todaiji Temple, constructed in 752, it is home to one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in the world. Visit Kasuga Shrine, established in 710 with 3000 lanterns before Nara Park with 1,100 docile deer roaming freely. 

Day 8: Kyoto - Osaka - Hiroshima

Transfer from Kyoto to Osaka and visit Osaka Castle, originally built in 1583 and reconstructed in 1931, then visit Shitennoji, one of the first and oldest officially administered temples in Japan, created in 593. Take the Shinkansen bullet train to Hiroshima.

Day 9: Hiroshima - Miyajima - Hiroshima

Start your day at the Atomic Bomb Dome, the first building to remain from the atomic bombing of WWII; visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum before boarding the ferry to Miyajima and visiting the Itsukushima Shrine with the famous floating Torii Gate.

Day 10: Hiroshima - Kansai Int'l Airport

Enjoy a morning of free time at your leisure before check-out time; you will be escorted to Kansai International Airport.
