This combination package combines popular tours that visit major sightseeing locations in Japan, such as Nikko, Mt. Fuji, Tokyo, Kanazawa, Shirakawago, Takayama, Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima, over the span of 14 days. An English-speaking interpreter guide will lead the tour. Even people who are not used to traveling in Japan will have no problem participating worry-free.

Day 1: Narita or Haneda Airport - Tokyo

An English-speaking tour conductor will meet customers at the airport, and assist them in boarding the taxi to their hotel in Tokyo.

There is a taxi drop-off service from the hotel in Tokyo to Tobu Asakusa Station or Shinjuku Station.

9:30 - 11:30 

Head to Nikko by rail from Tobu Asakusa Station or Shinjuku Station to Tobu Nikko Station.

11:30 - 11:40

Meet the tour guide at Tobu Nikko Station.

Please be at the meet-up by 11:40. From here, take the route bus to the stop nearest to Kanmangafuchi Abyss.

*Customers who are late for the departure time will have their reservations canceled. Please give yourself plenty of time. Joining the tour partway through after the tour has departed is not allowed.

Kanmangafuchi Abyss

Kanmangafuchi Abyss is a small gorge formed by an eruption of Mt. Nantai. There is a row of approximately 70 stone statues of Jizo (a Bodhisattva who is the protector of children) along the river, and legend says they mysteriously change in number each time they are counted. A botanical garden lies on the opposite side of the Jizo statues, where visitors can enjoy the scenery of the season.

Nikko Toshogu Shrine

A registered UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sacred place with over 400 years of history is where Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, is enshrined. Enjoy seeing the traditional beauty of the main hall, as well as the sleeping cat and 3 monkey carvings.

After heading to Tobu Nikko Station by route bus, the tour ends.

Return to Tokyo by rail from Tobu Nikko Station to Shinjuku Station or Tobu Asakusa Station.

Arrive at Shinjuku Station or Tobu Asakusa Station. Please make your own way to the hotel accommodation in Tokyo from Shinjuku Station or Tobu Asakusa Station.

Day 4: Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Hakone - Tokyo

Mt. Fuji 5th Station

The bus will head up to the 5th Station along the Subaru Line. The 5th Station is situated at 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level. At this height, you will be amazed at spectacular, breathtaking views from above the clouds.

Lake Ashi Cruise

At Lake Ashi in Hakone, customers can ride a cruise ship. Spend a relaxing time while gazing at the beautiful lake and Mt. Fuji. *The tour may be guided to an alternative destination if the Lake Ashi cruise operation is suspended, or depending on road conditions, congestion, etc.

Hakone Komagatake Ropeway

Take a 7-minute ropeway ride to the peak of Mt. Komagatake. A total of 50 minutes will be spent here, including time to walk around at the peak. Take a cableway ride up to the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya (original shrine) that nestles at the mountaintop. Enjoy the scenery of Lake Ashi spread out below. *The tour may be guided to an alternative destination if the Komagatake Ropeway operation is suspended, or depending on road conditions, congestion, etc.

Hakone-en

Customers that descend Mt. Komagatake early can stop by the souvenir corner at the foot of the mountain. *Depending on time management, and if the order of tour destinations was changed, there may not be time to purchase souvenirs.

Shinjuku

This tour ends upon arrival near Shinjuku Station West Exit. *Please head to your next destination on your own from Shinjuku. The National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter will inform customers how to return afterwards.

Depart from Tokyo Station Marunouchi South Exit Hato Bus Boarding Area.

Please be at the meeting location at least 10 minutes before departure. There will be a stop at the Shinjuku Station Boarding Area. (Meet at 8:50, Dep. at 9:00)

Imperial Palace Plaza (Stroll)

Admire the view at this National Garden that was formerly a private garden of the Royal Family. Enjoy the view of Nijubashi Bridge, which is said to be the face of the Imperial Palace, as well as the view of the Imperial Palace itself.

National Diet Building (Drive-by)

This is the center of the Japanese Government. Don't let the impressive Western-style architecture fool you- -this building is constructed almost entirely out of pure Japanese materials.

Tokyo Tower Main Deck (View)

Tokyo Tower, the symbol of Tokyo, offers a great 360-degree panoramic view from its main observatory.

Senso-ji Temple & Nakamise Shopping Street (Free Time for Sightseeing)

Senso-ji, Tokyo's oldest temple, offers plenty to see including the bright red Kaminarimon Gate, a statue of the god of thunder, and a five-story pagoda. The bustling street known as "Nakamise" stretches for about 250 m from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji Temple and is filled with a plethora of shops.

Kabukiza (Drive-by)

A classic Japanese-style theater where traditional Kabuki performances are held.

Head to Kanazawa Station via Shinkansen train from Tokyo Station.

The tour departs from hotel in Kanazawa. Pick-up service from the hotel is available. As check-in is from 15:00, please leave any large luggage at the hotel and check in after the tour ends.

Nomura Residence, Nagamachi Samurai District

Visit a former residence of a samurai family from the Kaga Domain. Admire the traditional architecture and gaze at the beautiful Japanese garden.

Kenrokuen Garden

This beautiful garden is considered one of the top three Japanese gardens. It offers amazing seasonal views all year round.

Higashi Chaya-gai

Wooden-latticed exteriors of teahouses line both sides of the stone-paved street here where something from the Edo period (1603-1868) still lingers in the air. This area is an Important Traditional Building Preservation District.

Day 8: Kanazawa - Shirakawago - Takayama - Kanazawa

Shirakawago Observatory

Enjoy an elevated view of the World Heritageregistered thatch-roofed village of Shirakawago. Great for photography!

Shirakawago & Wada Residence (traditional thatchroofed farmhouse)

This is one of the thatch-roofed houses, also registered as a World Heritage Site. Look around and be fascinated by the culture and history of the village.

Transfer from Shirakawago to Takayama.

Yatai Kaikan (Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall)

This popular facility displays some of the colorfully decorated festival floats used in the famous Takayama Festival. Enjoy seeing the many intricately made floats.

Kusakabe Heritage House

Enjoy a visit to this historical Japanese-style townhouse and view a range of exquisite folk art and traditional handicrafts.

Kami-Sannomachi

Located in the heart of the castle town, the old streets of this area - which originally developed as a merchant town - retain traces from the Edo period (1603-1868), and are a must-see for visitors.

Nijo Castle

A World Heritage site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for the Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace. The impressive, elaborate carvings and decors in the Ninomaru Palace are a must-see.

Kinkaku-ji Temple

A World Heritage site. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.

[Regular] Kyoto Imperial Palace

See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor's residence until about 150 years ago.

[Kyoto Imperial Palace Closed Days] Kitano Tenmangu Shrine

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the substitute for Kyoto Imperial Palace on days it is closed to visitors. It is famous for housing the God of scholarship. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of some 40,000 inari-jinja shrines located all over Japan. The bright red Senbon Torii gates are a must-see attraction.

Sanjusangen-do Temple

Visit the world's longest wooden structure, housing 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities dating back to the 13th century.

18:30 - 19:30

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

The view of Kyoto from the World Heritage Site of Kiyomizu-dera is superb. The historic shopping lane that leads to the temple adds to a wonderful experience.

From Kiyomizu-dera Temple, participants will be dropped off at Kyoto Station, then to hotels. *Those with accommodation at a hotel near Kyoto Station will be dropped of at Kyoto Station.

Day 11: Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto


Afternoon: 

There is a taxi drop-off service from the hotel in Kyoto to the tour departure location. *Customers at some hotels are to transfer on foot.

The tour bus departs from Avanti's Sunrise Tours Desk (across from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit) to Nara.

Todai-ji Temple (Great Buddha) Nara Park

A World Heritage site. This is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world's largest wooden structures. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine

This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

18:30 - 19:30

Tour ends at Kyoto Station. Customers are to make their own way from Kyoto Station to the hotel. (5 min on foot)

Day 12: Kyoto - Hiroshima - Miyajima - Kyoto

Walk to Kyoto Station. *An assistant will guide participants to the Kyoto Station Shinkansen platform, but will not board the Shinkansen.

Depart from the Sunrise Tours Desk inside Avanti (across from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit) to Hiroshima by Shinkansen train (Nozomi Shinkansen, reserved seating).

Arrive at Hiroshima Station. Walk to Hotel Granvia Hiroshima.

The tour departs from Hotel Granvia Hiroshima and head to Miyajimaguchi by bus. 

Transfer to Miyajima Island by ferry (10mins).

Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima Lunch (meal charges not included in the tour)

A World Heritage site. Established in the 6th century, this shrine is one of Japan's finest, and is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a nobles' residence in the Heian period). The contrast of the green of Mount Misen behind the lacquered shrine pavilion and the blue of the Seto Sea is beautiful and evocative of the underwater palace of Ryugujo.

From Miyajima Port to Miyajimaguchi, take a ferry (10mins).

Proceed to Peace Memorial Park by bus. 

Peace Memorial Park & Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

This large-scale park was established in 1949 after the Pacific War ended, and is visited by countless visitors as a symbol of peace. The museum within the park is an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and was built to remind future generations of the terror wrought by atomic bombs.

Atomic Bomb Dome

The Atomic Bomb Dome is a symbol of the disastrous atomic bombing during WWII, the first atomic bombs used in human history, and has been preserved as it was to promote peace and elimination of atomic weapons around the world.

- If the minimum number of participants (1) is not met by 14 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be canceled.

- The last reception day (reservation deadline) is 8 days prior to the tour. - If the tour is canceled, customers will be notified by the conducting company or their travel agent.

- Haneda Airport may also be specified for shuttle service on the outbound trip, while Itami Airport may also be specified for shuttle service on the return trip. In such cases, please inform us when booking.

*Customers will be notified of the final day meeting time by the evening of the day prior to departure. Luggage is limited to 1 per person. In the case that not all of the customer's luggage can be loaded into the appointed vehicle, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for luggage shipping or other service.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 3 Itinerary (Nikko Tour)]

- The order of the tour itinerary is subject to change due to road conditions, events, ceremonies, or other reasons.

- Public transportation will be used to move around on this tour. Please note that seating is not guaranteed.

- In case access to Kanmangafuchi Abyss is deemed unsafe due to road surface freezing, etc., if Nikko Toshogu Shrine cannot be entered, or due to other operation circumstances, the tour may be taken to another destination. In such a case, it will be one of the following. Futarasan Shrine or Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple - As there are slopes and stairs in areas around Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Kanmangafuchi Abyss, wearing shoes with good traction and clothing easy to walk in as well as using a backpack are recommended. (A distance of about 5 km will be covered.)

- As there are land leeches from April to November, please be sure to keep your legs covered. We recommend wearing thick socks that cover the ankles and bringing bug spray.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 4 Itinerary (Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour)]

- The order of the tour itinerary is subject to change due to road conditions or other reasons.

- If Mt. Fuji's 5th Station cannot be reached due to road surface freezing or an accident on the Fuji Subaru Line, or due to weather conditions, etc., the tour will be taken to the highest elevation point possible. No alternative destinations are planned when the tour reaches beyond the 1st Station. However, when the tour has to turn back at the 1st Station or when the Fuji Subaru Line is completely blocked, the tour will visit Fujisan World Heritage Center or Lake Kawaguchi Oishi Park. Please note that an alternative itinerary may also be omitted depending on road conditions.

- Due to weather conditions, Mt. Fuji may not be visible even from the base. However, the tour will not be canceled and refunds will not be given for this reason. - If the Lake Ashi cruise or Komagatake Ropeway cannot be boarded (when not visitable due to suspension of operation, road congestion, or conditions at other sightseeing areas), the tour will be guided to one of the following alternative destinations. (The tour will not be canceled and refunds will not be issued for this reason.) Swan Lake Cruise Ship on Lake Yamanaka, Odawara Castle, Hakone-en Aquarium, Hakone Ropeway, Hakone Pirate Ship, Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Checkpoint, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise, Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, Hakone Shrine, Oshino Shinobi no Sato, Ninja Bus, etc.

- Depending on the season and day of the week, traffic conditions may vary, and arrival time at each location may be considerably delayed. Thank you for your understanding.

- Transportation may be delayed by traffic congestion. Even if you miss your Shinkansen after disembarking at Odawara Station due to a delay, no refunds will be given. Please ride the next train in the Non-reserved section. If planning on taking a Shinkansen after the tour ends, please make sure to choose a Shinkansen departing Odawara Station at 19:00 or later.

Tours from Dec. to Mar. depart Odawara Station between 17:00 and 18:30. Tours from Apr. to Nov. depart Odawara Station between 18:00 and 19:30.

- On the day when the annual Mt. Fuji Hill Climb is held, which is usually on a weekend in June (schedule for 2024 is yet to be determined), the Fuji Subaru Line is closed until around 14:00. The tour will proceed on this day as well. Please note that there will be changes to the itinerary order and sightseeing locations, and the Komagatake Ropeway and Lake Ashi cruise may be changed to alternative itineraries. Furthermore, please note that refunds will not be issued in this case, and customers will not be notified separately when the schedule has been determined.

[Important Notes/Supplements: About Day 6 Itinerary (Tokyo Half-day Tour)]

- The order of the tour itinerary is subject to change due to road conditions or other reasons. - Depending on the season and day of the week, traffic conditions may vary, and arrival time at each location may be considerably delayed.

- At Tokyo Tower, only the main observatory (150 m) will be entered. An additional admission fee is required to access the Special Observatory (250 m). For those interested, please pay the required charges on your own.

- After departure, the tour may stop by at hotels in Kanazawa City to pick up customers. Please note that customers may not disembark for a break here.

- If sightseeing facilities are closed, the tour will be taken to alternative destinations.

- The departure and arrival times and time to be spent at destinations written on the itinerary are an estimate. The order of activities and arrival times may differ depending on road conditions and congestion at destinations.

- Please note that customers on this plan may ride along with participants of other tours.

- In the spring of 2024, the Hokuriku Shinkansen line will be extended from Kanazawa to Tsuruga. Once operation starts, a train transfer will be made at Tsuruga Station. After arriving at Kyoto Station, customers will be welcomed by an English-speaking assistant who will assist in boarding.

- The arrival time in Kyoto may be around 12:00 to past 14:00 depending on the reserved Shinkansen conditions and other reasons. After arriving at the hotel, customers may have to wait until check-in

The Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to visitors on the following days. As such, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. If the closed day falls on the 25th, the tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple. (Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event) Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December. (Closed on the following day if Tuesday is a holiday.) If closed, Ryoan-ji Temple will be visited instead. Participants will walk from the parking lot to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (about 15 min one-way). Thank you for your understanding. Participants will walk from the parking lot to Todai-ji Temple (about 15 min one-way). Thank you for your understanding. Please inform us at the time of booking if any person in your group is using crutches or a wheelchair, or has a chronic illness that makes it difficult to walk for long distances. At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour does not include entrance to areas requiring admission. The order of activities and arrival times may differ depending on road conditions and congestion at destinations. Seats may not be designated.
