At the World Heritage site Shirakawago, enjoy seeing the seasonal scenery of a quaint village of thatch-roofed houses. At Takayama, take a walk around the old town, where traditional Japanese-style townhouses and traces of the Edo period (1603- 1868) still remain. Day 1: Kanazawa - Shirakawago - Takayama - Kanazawa

Meet near Kanazawa Station Tourist Information Center (inside Kanazawa Station building).

Please arrive by 8:15. The National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter will conduct tour check-in procedures. The bus will depart at 8:25.

Shirakawago Observatory

Enjoy an elevated view of the World Heritageregistered thatch-roofed village of Shirakawago. Great for photography!

Shirakawago & Wada Residence (traditional thatchroofed farmhouse)

This is one of the thatch-roofed houses, also registered as a World Heritage Site. Look around and be fascinated by the culture and history of the village.

Lunch (meal charges not included in the tour)

Transfer from Shirakawago to Takayama.

Yatai Kaikan (Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall)

This popular facility displays some of the colorfully decorated festival floats used in the famous Takayama Festival. Enjoy seeing the many intricately made floats.

Kusakabe Heritage House

Enjoy a visit to this historical Japanese-style townhouse and view a range of exquisite folk art and traditional handicrafts.

Kami-Sannomachi

Located in the heart of the castle town, the old streets of this area - which originally developed as a merchant town - retain traces from the Edo period (1603-1868), and are a must-see for visitors.
